Ford F-150 Lightning Pro Power Onboard Lets You Recharge Other EVs in Utah

Ford F-150 Lightning Pro Power Onboard Lets You Recharge Other EVs in Utah | Roosevelt, UT

There’s so much to be excited about with the upcoming 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning, the status quo-changing electric pickup truck that’s Built Ford Tough®. In addition to its impressive range, robust power, and winning style, the Ford F-150 has the ability to charge other EVs using Pro Power Onboard.

Pro Power Onboard, available on both the F-150 Lightning and the F-150 PowerBoost™ Hybrid, puts out up to 9.6 kilowatts of electric power. This can be used for everything from running portable air compressors to hooking up accessory lighting to running a television.

This also allows you — with the help of the Ford Mobile Power Cord and other optional equipment — to charge any electric vehicle with an SAE J1772 charge port.

That means that if you’re driving around Roosevelt or across Utah and happen across a fellow EV driver who’s stranded without power, you can lend a helping hand. Vehicle-to-vehicle charging with the F-150 Lightning and Pro Power Onboard allows you to add 20 miles of range to a Mustang Mach-E per charging hour. You can even recharge another Ford F-150 Lightning and add 13 miles of range per hour you’re plugged together. That could be enough to get the stranded car to a station in Utah where they can fully recharge.

Of course, the widening lineup of Ford electric vehicles works to ensure that you rarely find yourself in that situation. Not only do the F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E offer upwards of 300 miles of EPA-estimated range, they feature range-optimizing technologies like FordPass™ Power My Trip to help you access the Blue Oval™ Charge Network and its more than 19,500 charging stations.[1]
