If you are new to the Uintah Basin or are just here for a visit, be sure to add the Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum to your list. The museum is located at 496 E Main Street in Vernal, Utah. The park costs $7 a day for adults and $3.50 for seniors and children ages six to 12; children five and under get in free.
The Uinta Fossil Journey exhibit is one the whole family will love. You will start by searching for a stone, then move on to finding fossils, discovering dinosaurs, journeying to the Jurassic, traveling through time, exploring the Eocene, and studying rocks. There are also changing exhibits to explore, and don’t forget to check out the Edaphosaurus exhibit to learn more about dinosaurs.
In the spring (March through Memorial Day), the museum is open daily from 9am to 5pm. Starting Memorial Day Weekend, the museum shifts to summer hours (9am until 7pm) until September 3rd. September 3rd marks fall hours, again from 9am to 5pm. Winter hours (October to March) are from 9am to 5pm. Mondays through Saturday; the museum is closed on Sundays in the winter.
