This just in: The all-new 2019 Ford Ranger, the most recent addition to the Ford lineup, has been rated the most fuel-efficient gas-powered midsize pickup in America, beating out competition like the Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon, and Toyota Tacoma.
So just how efficient is the new Ford Ranger? According to EPA estimates, the Ranger achieves up to 21 miles per gallon in the city, 26 on the highway, and 23 combined. That comes from the 2.3-liter EcoBoost® gas engine on 4×2 models. Even 4×4 Rangers are highly efficient with this engine, at an EPA estimated 20 miles per gallon in the city, 24 on the highway, and 22 combined.
This engine earns more than class-leading fuel economy, however. At 310 lb-ft, the EcoBoost engine also boasts best-in-class torque and it also offers best-in-class towing capacity at 7,500 pounds.
“Midsize truck customers have been asking for a pickup that’s Built Ford Tough,” remarked Todd Eckert, Ford truck group marketing manager. “And Ranger will deliver with durability, capability, and fuel efficiency, while also providing in-city maneuverability and the freedom desired by many midsize pickup truck buyers to go off the grid.”
Ford has already begun production on the new mid-size Ranger at the Michigan Assembly Plant. Test-drive it when it arrives on our lot at L&L Motor. You can also take a whirl in one of our other shiny new 2019 models.
*EPA-estimated city/hwy mpg for the model indicated. See fueleconomy.gov for fuel economy of other engine/transmission combinations. Actual mileage will vary.
Just last month, Mustang6G shared that Ford may have let the cat (or pony, as it were) out of the bag at a recent dealer event about a new four-door Mustang sedan on the horizon. If we are to believe the rumors, this new Mustang will take its power from a turbo V8 and compete directly with models like the Audi A7 and the Porsche Panamera.
This is the second big Mustang rumor we’ve heard recently. Other reports suggest that we will see a Mach 1 all-electric performance SUV within the next three years; this model will fuse together the Ford Mustang and Ford Explorer into one high-performance SUV.
It is interesting for Ford to hint at this upcoming sedan, since earlier this year the Blue Oval announced that it would be phasing out its sedans entirely. The Fiesta will continue for the 2019 model year, and the Fusion will stick around awhile longer, but the rest will be disappearing in favor of electric vehicles and SUVs. Yet here comes a brand new four-door Mustang sedan.
Nothing, of course, is official yet, but we’ll keep our ears to the ground for more Mustang rumors and confirmation directly from Ford in the coming months. Contact us at L&L Motor to find out about the latest developments from Ford.
Whether it’s the winter blues or just holiday indulgence, it can be difficult to stay as fit in the colder months as it can be in the summer. Luckily, we have a few ideas as to how to stay active this holiday season:
Get into snow sports
Living in Vernal gives us great access to awesome winter sports, like skiing, snowboarding, skating, and snowshoeing. Try one out this winter season.
Go for a walk
Winter walks can be beautiful and quite cozy when you bundle up appropriately. They’re also a great way to maintain heart health and they don’t require too much stamina. Just make sure the walkways aren’t icy before heading out.
Play active games
f you have kids at home, try playing hide-and-seek indoors or, better yet, get out the old Wii and play your favorite Wii sports.
Take a class
If working out at the gym by yourself just isn’t enticing to you, sign up for a class, like yoga or cycling. Better yet, skip the gym and sign up for a beginner’s dancing or karate class.
Build a snowman or go sledding
Outdoor activities don’t have to be strenuous. Just getting out of the house to make a snowman or go sledding with friends and family will brighten your spirits and boost your endorphins.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, so we at L&L Motor have been talking about what we are thankful for. One of the big things? Advances in vehicle safety. Here are five vehicles features we are grateful for this year:
When the roads get wet from rain or snow, we are happy to rely on our vehicles’ all-wheel drive systems, which provide or traction. But all-wheel drive is only half the battle — you also need tires that provide adequate grip.
Rearview cameras are now an industry standard — and thank goodness for that. Rearview cameras make it much easier to see when reversing and keep pedestrians in parking lots and on sidewalks much safer.
Forward Collision Warning
This modern safety feature alerts you if you are approaching a frontal barrier, like another car, too quickly. Some cars even have systems that will apply brakes for you if you do not react quickly enough.
Blind Spot Monitoring
Blind spots have long been the biggest pain about driving, but with blind spot monitoring/warnings, you have a better idea of what is around you.
Adaptive Cruise Control
Cruise control is great until the car in front of you inexplicably slows down. Adaptive cruise control maintains a consistent distance from the traffic ahead of you.
Stop by L&L Motor to test-drive one of our new Ford models equipped with some of these safety features.
Big things are coming from the Blue Oval. In fact, just last month, Ford announced that it will reduce platforms for its vehicles. Instead of the nine platforms that currently underpin its vehicles, Ford will soon have just five. At the same time, Ford will add nine new nameplates to its lineup by 2023. That will bring its total vehicle count to 23, which is three more than it currently offers.
So what are the five platforms that will remain? According to The News Wheel, they are the unibody for FWD and AWD, unibody for RWD and AWD, unibody for battery-electric vehicles, unibody for commercial vans, and body-on-frame for RWD and AWD. This decision will help evolve the One Ford Concept that former CEO Alan Mulally originally developed. More importantly, this will save Ford $7 billion and will get new Ford models into dealerships faster.
Though Ford plans to add nine new vehicles within the next five years, it will also be retiring the Fusion, Taurus, C-MAX, Flex, and Fiesta. In doing so, Ford will drop the average age of vehicles in its lineup from 5.7 years to 3.3 years.
“It’s like selling fish and vegetables,” said Hau Thai-Tang, Ford’s head of product development and purchasing. “The fresher it is, the better they do.”

While we fight for equality for women here in America, we must also remember that women and their male allies throughout the world are also fighting that same battle. Nowhere is this more apparent than in Saudi Arabia where, for the first time, women have earned the right to drive.
Ford hopes to make a difference in this monumental policy change. Thus far, Ford has offered special driving courses to female drivers in Saudi Arabia and even bestowed a brand new Ford Mustang to a women’s rights activist. Ford’s latest move is to fund the driver’s license fees for women in Saudi Arabia via its vehicle distributor, Al Jazirah Vehicles Agency Co.
Though it seems small, this is a huge gift from Ford, as getting licensed in Saudi Arabia costs nearly $700. Any Saudi Arabian women who want to take advantage of this assistance need only to submit a receipt for the fees by September 30.
“Ford is committed to delivering the best products, services, and we are in turn committed to helping out female customers in getting the best overall ownership experience in the Kingdom,” remarked Mohammed Al Kraidees, CEO, Al Jazirah Vehicles Agencies Co. “AJVA will pay the cost of obtaining a driver’s license, and we hope that this will further facilitate this process and help more women to get behind the wheel of their dream Ford car as soon as possible.”
We here at L&L Motor would like to congratulate Ford for helping the women of Saudi Arabia gain their driving independence. This time is long overdue.

There are few things worse than driving along, minding your own business when — BAM! — you hit a giant pothole you somehow didn’t see. With potholes becoming such a consistent part of the driving experience, it can be difficult to avoid them — until now. Ford is introducing a brand-new technology that will help mitigate pothole damage — and hopefully keep you from feeling that unwelcome jarring sensation.
The Ford Focus pothole detection technology senses when your Focus’s wheel falls into a pothole. When this occurs, it automatically adjusts the suspension to help eliminate the pothole’s impact on both your vehicle’s suspension and you — all within a single second.
Ford tested the effectiveness of this technology at its Belgium test facility, putting it through the ringer with plenty of awful potholes and road hazards.
“Our engineers are always searching for the roughest roads to really test our suspension to the limit, but more and more we’re noticing that the rough roads are finding us,” said Guy Mathot, Ford Focus vehicle dynamics supervisor. “Potholes are a problem that isn’t going away anytime soon, but with our advanced suspension technology for the all-new Focus, we’ve been able to reduce their impact.”
This new technology will come as part of the Focus’s Continuously Controlled Damping system, so make sure you add this technology to your list when you purchase a new Focus. Stop by L&L Motor to test-drive a new Focus equipped with this innovative feature.
