Are you worried about your new teen driver’s safety behind
the wheel, especially when you’re not in the car to monitor? Then try out one
of the four apps for safe teen driving, recommended by The News Wheel:
Focus by TeenDrive
To use this app, you will also need to
purchase a beacon to install in your car and create an account online. When
your teen’s phone is within 20 feet of this beacon, it will sync with it,
meaning that when the car is in motion, all text and social media notifications
will be blocked. Drivers can still utilize navigation and music apps.
While Focus requires that you purchase a beacon, MOTIVATE
operates just with the app on the phone — and teens may be more eager to use
this one. That’s because MOTIVATE is an incentive app that rewards teens for
safe driving. MOTIVATE pauses app notifications when the teen is driving and
awards them points for prizes for safe driving.
When your teen’s vehicle is in motion, the phone
automatically locks. And if they unlock it? You’ll get a notification so you
can talk to your teen about safe driving.
Currently, Drivemode is available only for Android users. It
uses voice command, reads texts aloud, supports Google Maps, and more. Most
importantly? It turns off notifications.
If you and your teen are starting to shop for their first vehicle, stop by L&L Motor. We’ll help match you with the right Ford model to suit your budget and preferences.
Whether you live in a city or a suburb, the struggle to find
a parking spot for your vehicle is real. Even here in Vernal — especially if
you head into one of the popular businesses lining Main Street — you might find
it difficult to find a spot where you want it to be. The Ford EcoSport is here
to change that. In fact, when you’re behind the wheel of the EcoSport, you
should be able to find what Ford calls EcoSpots — parking spots that are
prefect for the EcoSport’s short body.
Finding fun ways to entertain your children during Utah’s
winter can be difficult — but we have a few ideas for you. Here’s a look at
some fun indoor entertainment centers in Utah that you can take your whole
family to for an exciting day out.
Whether it’s the winter blues or just holiday indulgence, it can be difficult to stay as fit in the colder months as it can be in the summer. Luckily, we have a few ideas as to how to stay active this holiday season:
Get into snow sports
Living in Vernal gives us great access to awesome winter sports, like skiing, snowboarding, skating, and snowshoeing. Try one out this winter season.
Go for a walk
Winter walks can be beautiful and quite cozy when you bundle up appropriately. They’re also a great way to maintain heart health and they don’t require too much stamina. Just make sure the walkways aren’t icy before heading out.
Play active games
f you have kids at home, try playing hide-and-seek indoors or, better yet, get out the old Wii and play your favorite Wii sports.
Take a class
If working out at the gym by yourself just isn’t enticing to you, sign up for a class, like yoga or cycling. Better yet, skip the gym and sign up for a beginner’s dancing or karate class.
Build a snowman or go sledding
Outdoor activities don’t have to be strenuous. Just getting out of the house to make a snowman or go sledding with friends and family will brighten your spirits and boost your endorphins.
