Throughout the years, Hollywood has repeatedly turned to Ford vehicles to use on the big screen. Some of the most iconic scenes in movie history feature a Ford model, driven by famous actors in famous scenes. It happens more often than you would think, and we at L&L Motors want to share a few of our favorite Ford movie moments.
When thinking about Jurassic Park, the vehicles the characters drive to tour the park—and eventually use to barrel through the jungle terrain and escape from the dinosaurs—are instantly summoned to mind. These vehicles were first-generation Ford Explorers, decked out with a jungle paint job, off-road lights, and a tough front grille guard. All things considered, we think the Explorer put up a good fight against the T-Rex.
The Big Lebowski
Throughout The Big Lebowski, our favorite Dude and actor Jeff Bridges drives a 1973 Ford Gran Torino—that is, until it is stolen from him. In a hilarious unfolding of events, the Dude subsequently gets his car back, has it wrecked, and eventually sees it go up in flames. We’re proud that a Ford model is central to this cult favorite, although it takes quite a beating.
In this film, Walt Kowalski—played by Clint Eastwood—prizes his 1972 Gran Torino Sport over all his other possessions. After returning from the Korean war, Kowalski worked at the Ford Motor Company in Detroit. Kowalski’s devotion to his car allows him to think about his past and informs the relationships that take shape within the film.
