A few years ago, automakers in Detroit decided to pull their mid-size trucks from their lineups, showing no indication of looking back—until now. General Motors brought back the mid-size Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado in 2015 and now, it looks like Ford will also bring back its mid-size pickup truck.
Ford recently announced it will be bringing the popular Ford Ranger back to join the F-150, which remains the most popular pickup truck in the market. The Ranger was last produced in the United States in 2012, but is still sold in a variety of international markets. Ford halted American production of the Ranger after many customers decided the F-150 was the choice for them due to its low price and high capabilities.
Now the average price of the F-150 breaks the $40,000 mark and sales are still going strong. That leaves plenty of wiggle room for a mid-size pickup.
Ford’s mid-size truck is set to reenter the market come 2018, whether it’s the Ranger or a new model altogether.

Knowing how to jump start your car is an essential part of driving. It’s easy to forget since few drivers jump start a car often. Even with roadside assistance, knowing how to start a dead battery can save time and money. Here’s an easy-to-follow guide to help you jump start your car!
Once you’ve parked both cars, pop the hoods and identify the positive (red) and negative (black) terminals on each car’s battery. Do the same for the jumper cables.
Attach the positive (red) cable to the positive terminal of the dead battery. Attach the other positive end to the live battery.
Attach the negative (black) cable to the live battery’s negative terminal. Attach the other end to a jumper post or unpainted bolt near the dead battery. Watch out for fans and belts!
Once everything is attached, start the car with the live battery. Let it idle for a few minutes while slightly pushing on the gas.
After a few minutes have passed, try to start the car with the dead battery. If the car doesn’t start, wait a few more minutes and try again.
Once the car starts, let both vehicles idle. After you disconnect the cables in the opposite order you attached them, continue on your way.
The Ford Motor Company reported its best July since 2006 with total and retail sales up 5 percent last month, driven by the F-Series, Fusion, and Mustang.
A total of 222,731 vehicles were sold last month, with F-Series retail sales up 13 percent to deliver the pickup trucks’ own best results since 2006, even though transaction pricing is at all-time record (up $3,200 compared to last year).
SUV sales were up 11 percent year-over-year for the best result since 2005. Explorer, Edge, and Escape sales were up 27 percent, 17 percent, and 10 percent, respectively. This month’s sales marked an all-time record for the Escape.
Van sales were up 14 percent with a total of 16,090 vehicles sold, led by the all-new Transit, which was responsible for about half of these and led Ford commercial vans to a 15-year sales high.
Finally, Fusion and Mustang sales skyrocketed last July. The former was up 5 percent for its best July performance ever while the latter was up 29 percent, making it the most popular sports car in the country.

Ford is on a diet. The American carmaker recently reduced the weight of the 2015 Ford F-150 significantly, thanks to the use of lightweight materials. So much weight, in fact, that Altair and the Center for Automotive Research (CAR) have named the Ford Motor Company the winner of the 3rd annual Altair Enlighten Award.
“We are happy to congratulate Ford for winning the 2015 Altair Enlighten Award,” said Dave Mason, Vice President of Global Automotive at Altair. “It’s encouraging to see Ford implementing a holistic lightweighting strategy, which resulted in impressive weight savings that were incredibly significant to the judging panel.”
The pickup truck was recognized for its total weight reduction of up to 700 pounds, while still being able to maintain its best-in-class towing, payload, and EPA-estimated gasoline fuel economy—not to mention five-star government crash test ratings for every cab configuration!
Much of the 700 pounds were saved by using high-strength, aerospace-grade aluminum alloys throughout the F-150 body, not only reducing weight but also improving dent and ding resistance. Ford also increased the use of high-strength 70,000-psi steel from 23 percent to 77 percent of the frame, improving stiffness and durability while saving about 60 pounds. No wonder they’re selling like hotcakes at L&L Motors!
Ford is making the roads safer not just by building better cars, but by also encouraging better driving. From July through early August, the automaker will be helping to teach more than 1,500 teens to learn key safe-driving skills at free camps in six states.
Advanced hands-on driver training will be held in North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Wyoming, as part of the Ford Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) program. An estimated 1,500 teens will attend the camps, where they will learn the dangers of impaired driving by using a special suit and goggles that slow movement, blur vision, and reduce coordination—mimicking how it feels to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
“More teen driving-related deaths tend to occur in June, July and August than any other month,” said Jonathan Adkins, executive director at Governors Highway Safety Association, a DSFL partner. “So it’s particularly timely that Ford Driving Skills for Life is taking its show on the road, hitting six states during the heart of this dangerous driving season.”
Parents are encouraged to participate with their teens at the camp, which will also cover vehicle handling, speed and space management, and hazard recognition.
Ask several people whether the Mustang or the Camaro is the best American muscle car and you might get different answers. But that’s only because asking a couple people only gives you a small perspective on how the seemingly never-ending fight between the two iconic cars is going.
The Camaro got a boost in sales when Megan Fox leaning over it in Transformers made it briefly super popular, but the ‘Stang soon came right back it at it. Sales were neck and neck in 2012 and 2013, and the Mustang finally jumped ahead again in 2014.
Now, the Mustang vs. Camaro showdown isn’t even close. In June, the Mustang outsold the Camaro 11,719 to 8,611 cars, and both were ahead of the Challenger’s 6,845 units. Though the Camaro saw sales increase by 11.5 percent, it couldn’t keep up with the Mustang’s whopping 53.6 percent improvement.

Plenty of vehicles can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in a handful of seconds, but a recently upgraded 1968 Ford Mustang is putting them all to shame. The Zombie 222 package for Mustangs, created by Mitch Medford, is helping a 1968 Ford Mustang hit the 60 mph in just two seconds.
Medford is currently planning on converting many old Mustangs into modern electric drag racers, using innovative technologies that have never been seen before. If its zero to 60-time is any indication, we’d say that this Zombie 222 Mustang is a pretty good advertisement.
This powerful vehicle hosts two electric motors, which combine to produce more than 800 horsepower and 1,800 pound-feet of torque. The Zombie 22 Package also allows the ’69 ‘Stang to hit an astounding top speed of 175 mph, leaving its competition in the dust.

With each new model, the brilliant designers at Ford make the F-150 better and better. Similarly, with each year, game designers meet from all over the world at the E3 convention, to show off the latest in gaming. When these two worlds combine, what do you get? A Halo-inspired Ford F-150.
The Ford F-150 Halo Sandcat looks like it came straight out of the Microsoft game franchise, down to the finest detail – including a United Nations Space Command decal. The double cab would provide plenty of room for your attack team, while the green color reflects the game’s landscape. Add the special edition pickup truck’s matte finish, and you have one vehicle that is ready to take on anything the Halo franchise has to offer.

In order to get the most out of Take Your Child to Work Day, Ford decided to break some records. Starting as the brainchild of technician Matt West, Ford recently broke the record for having the biggest Hot Wheels® loop in the world.
How big was it? The Ford Hot Wheels Record consisted of a 12-foot loop that was six-inches wide, according to Ford. In order to build the gigantic loop, engineers had to set it up in the three-story atrium located at the Research and Innovation Center in Dearborn, Michigan. Believe it or not, this record beat its predecessor by over three feet.
“It started as part-fun, part-physics lesson with my son at home,” said West. “We built one in our playroom, and then built a five-foot-tall loop in our backyard. When people at Ford heard what we were up to, everyone thought it would be a great way to get young people excited about science and engineering by trying to break the world record on Take Your Child to Work Day.”
The trick to building this record-breaking loop was all in momentum: height doesn’t matter if the toy car can’t make it around. Although Ford didn’t measure the entire track, we at L&L Motors are told it was absolutely massive, consisting of a large wooden structure to help the Hot Wheels model make it through the massive loop.
Ford is stepping to the forefront of alternative clean energy by providing for its new 2016 Ford F-150 trucks to be converted to propane and compressed natural gas (CNG). Though oil prices are down, the interest in these cheaper fuels is on the rise—according to Jon Coleman, Ford fleet sustainability and technology manager.
“We surveyed customers likely to use natural gas or propane, and 72% told us they want to have these alternative-fuel capabilities available on F-150 with the 5-liter V8 engine,” Coleman said. “We expect the gaseous-fuel prep package will be even more popular than it was on the 2014 F-150 with the 3.7-liter V-6 engine.”
That also means that Ford will be offering the only half-ton on the road to be powered by CNG or propane fuels. Buyers will need to check the box to include the $315 factory-installed engine package then have a new fuel tank and fuel lines installed for a cost of between $7,000 and $9,500 depending on tank capacity.
